Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải on Friday urged relatingagencies to quickly complete a draft national housing developmentstrategy towards 2020.
The request was made at a meeting of the Steering Committee on housing and real estate market on April 1.

The draft strategy is expected to be submitted to the PM for approval right in April this year.

The recent national population and housing census shows that number of houses has increased rapidly during the past ten years on par with the rise of the number of households.

Total land for housing is estimated at 1,415 million m2,, while average acreage per capita climbed to 16.7 m2 from 9.7 m2 , according to the census.

The housing market has been positively improving in the recent years thanks to the introduction of complex projects and increasingly perfect mechanisms.

Many new urban areas have emerged with modern and synchronous infrastructure, said the census.

Participants to the meeting said that there are still shortcomings in housing development and management, especially insufficient mechanisms and policies..

Moreover, the gap of housing conditions tends to widen and financial resources for housing development are also inadequate.

The participants stressed the need to put forth a housing development strategy towards 2020 and vision to 2030 for the country, with an overall aim of providing safe accommodations to people and developing the housing market.
