On March 15th, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan listened to report on the project of construction of schools and tenement houses for teachers in the 2008-2012 period and the programme on developing lodgment for students.
Thanks to the project on construction of schools and tenement houses, 55,372 classrooms have been put into operation, accounting for 66.3% as scheduled. 20,560 classrooms, accounting for 9.1% are being built. Out of 24,186 tenement houses for teachers, 21,435 were opened and are prepared for use.
According to Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam, after two years of implementing the programme on building hostels for students, 94 projects on housings for students in 28 provinces and cities and the ministries of public security and of national defence have been carried out.
Buildings put into operation met the demand of lodgment for 120000 students. By the end of this year, 125 buildings will be completed to meet the demand of housing for 210,000 students.
