This is the first time Vietnam has hosted the event since the country became an ADB member.
Hosting the event is very important as it will enable Vietnam to raise its prestige and position in the regional and international area and present the image of its landscape and people to the world community.
Under the framework of the meeting, 40 events will take place, including the opening session, two plenary sessions, 14 seminars, meetings between finance ministers, group meetings among delegates, banquets, bilateral and multilateral meetings and social activities.
The main events will include the opening session (on the morning of May 5), the plenary session of 67 member countries, a Governors’ seminar themed “Asia 2050: Pursuit of Growth, Sustainability and Well Being”, a meeting of finance ministers and deputy ministers from Japan, China and the Republic of Korea, etc.
Other 19 seminars will focus on such subjects as Integration and Harmonization of Asia’s Capital and Financial Markets in the Post Crisis Environment, Climate Risk and Resilience: Securing the Region's Future, Bridging the Gap: Catalyzing Private Capital for Investment in Infrastructure, Working Together Towards Better Financial Regulation and Stability in Asia, Asia's Growing Investors: Agents of Change, ASEAN Integration: Speeding up Connectivity, The Role of the Private Sector in Promoting Regional Integration: Trade and Cross-Border Infrastructure, Regional Infrastructure Development for Asia's Connectivity: Current Progress, Challenges, and Ways Ahead, Investing in 'Climate-Smart' Development: Southeast Asia's Awakening, etc.
As scheduled, three press conferences will be organised at the My Dinh National Convention Centre on May 2, 3 and 6.
