Covering a total area of 8.8 hectares in Duc Thang ward, Bac Tu Liem district in Hanoi, the new university was built under the Build-Transfer (BT) investment form to replace the old one on Giang Vo street, Ba Dinh district.

Equipped with modern facilities, the university is designed to provide training for around 6,000 students.

The Hanoi School of Public Health is among 26 universities and colleges in central Hanoi. It is also the first university of the healthcare sector to be relocated from the downtown to outlying areas, aiming to reduce traffic and population pressure for the central city.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said that the demand for investment in the healthcare sector and the people’s need for better medical services are rising, while the State budget for the issue is limited.

The project is among efforts to realise the policy of boosting public-private co-operation and socialising health care services.

The inauguration of the new facility will contribute to improving public healthcare in general as well as the human resource training of preventive medical personnel and health managers in particular, she said.
