The Republic of Korea (RoK) Ministry of Strategy and Finance on June 25 announced that it has given its stamp of approval for a US$41 million preferential loan for Vietnam to expand its water supply infrastructure.

The credit mobilised through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) will be used for the second phase of the Thien Tan project in Dong Nai province, which is expected to be completed in late 2017.

The project will supply clean water for surrounding industrial zones, helping improve the living conditions for local people.

The RoK had previously provided a US$26 million loan for the first phase of the project, which finished in 2004.

Dong Nai is being transformed into a key industrial centre in the southern region, where around 300 factories from the RoK are currently operating.
