The PM has recently agreed to recognize Ba Ria city of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau as a second-tier city.
Ba Ria city is the hub of politics, culture, security and national defence of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, serving as a driving force for the urbanization process of the southern province and a satellite urban area of Ho Chi Minh City’s South Eastern Region.
The city consists of 11 administrative units including eight precincts and three communes with a total area of 91 square kilometres and a population of 153,862. The urbanization rate was 78.45%.
Its annual economic growth rate was around 14.2% over the last three years./.
