Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan met and worked with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland in charge of International Trade, Jarno Syrjala, and a delegation of Finnish businesses to exchange views and promote cooperation in the fields of transportation infrastructure, smart cities, green construction, and digital transformation, on May 29th, 2026, in Hanoi. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Vietnam, Pekka Voutilainen, and leaders from various units of the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Jarno Syrjala highly appreciated Vietnam's development potential as well as its current orientation towards developing integrated infrastructure, green transportation, and sustainable cities.

Deputy Minister Jarno Syrjala stated that Finnish businesses are particularly interested in Vietnam's large-scale infrastructure projects in the fields of seaports, logistics, airports, metro systems, public transport, and smart urban development. Representatives from Finnish companies presented various technological solutions for smart port operations, modern logistics, digital infrastructure, public transport, and climate-resilient urban infrastructure; and expressed their desire to participate in key infrastructure projects in Vietnam in the future.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan thanked the Finnish Government and business community for their interest in the Vietnamese market, and stated that Vietnam currently has a great demand for the development of a comprehensive, modern infrastructure system that is resilient to climate change and meets the requirements of sustainable development. In particular, areas such as transportation infrastructure, seaports, airports, metro systems, smart cities, and green infrastructure are being given special priority from the Vietnamese Government.

Vietnam is currently implementing a number of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Long Thanh International Airport, urban railway systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the expansion of key seaports, and the promotion of smart and green urban development.

In the field of smart cities, Vietnam is accelerating the implementation of its Sustainable Smart City Development Program, promoting the application of digital technologies in urban management, developing technical infrastructure, and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan and Deputy Minister Jarno Syrjala posed a photograph with delegates following the meeting.

Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan highly appreciated the strengths of Finnish enterprises in areas such as digital technology, automation, smart infrastructure, public transportation solutions, and sustainable urban development. He also stated that the Ministry of Construction looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Finnish partners in sharing expertise on smart urban planning, green building development, human resource training, and the digital transformation of the construction sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan and Deputy Minister Jarno Syrjala agreed to further strengthen information exchange and promote connections between relevant authorities and the business communities of both countries. These efforts aim to gradually concretize cooperation contents in the coming time, contributing to promoting the Vietnam-Finland Strategic Partnership more deeply and effectively.
