Within the framework of the National Achievement Exhibition on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), taken place from August 28 to September 15, 2025 at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi), the Department for Roads of Vietnam actively participated with many rich contents and display models, affirming the mark of the Road sector during 80 years of building the Transport sector and contributing to changing the transport infrastructure and changing the face of the country.

Road transport plays a particularly important role in socio-economic development, in serving the daily lives of the people, and in ensuring national defense and security. With the attention and support of the Party and the State, along with the extraordinary efforts, dedication, intelligence, and even sacrifices of generations of officials and workers throughout the nation’s process of construction and development, Vietnam’s road transport sector has achieved remarkable accomplishments and glorious feats. It has excellently fulfilled its pioneering mission of “going first to open the way” for national development, while making an important contribution to building the proud tradition of “Courage, Intelligence, and Creativity” of the transport sector.

At the National Achievement Exhibition, within the display area dedicated to Transportation and Construction Infrastructure under the theme “Infrastructure Leading the Way - Opening the Path for Development”, the Department for Roads of Vietnam showcases a wide range of documents, photographs, scale models, and representations of notable projects. These exhibits vividly highlight the crucial role of road transport infrastructure in the nation’s socio-economic development strategy.

Over the past 80 years, the transportation and construction infrastructure sector has affirmed its role as “Infrastructure Leading the Way - Opening the Path for Development”, creating roads, bridges, seaports, airports, metro lines, and more that stretch across the country. These projects have helped to connect regions, promote economic growth, and facilitate regional and international integration. From iconic century-spanning bridges like Mỹ Thuận, Cần Thơ, and Nhật Tân, to mountain-crossing works such as the Hải Vân and Đèo Cả tunnels, and the national expressway network of over 2,300 km and modern port and aviation systems, Vietnam’s transport infrastructure has made remarkable strides, approaching regional standards.

Construction technology exhibition area Theme: Technology transformation - driving force to elevate Vietnam’s construction industry.

In the exhibition area on construction technology, under the theme “Technological Transformation – Driving force to elevate Vietnam’s Construction Industry,” the Department for Roads of Vietnam focuses on highlighting sectors that have achieved significant breakthroughs through the application of modern science and technology. In key transportation projects, many advanced technologies such as pavement recycling, modern bridge and tunnel construction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have been widely applied, improving quality, shortening timelines, and optimizing costs. At the same time, digital platforms such as GIS, IoT, and AI have been integrated into infrastructure management, real-time construction monitoring, and intelligent traffic forecasting and regulation, gradually forming a digitalized, green, and sustainable transportation system.

By participating in this exhibition, the Department for Road of Vietnam demonstrates a spirit of responsibility, determination, and professional pride, contributing to the overall success of the construction sector. It is also an opportunity for the Department to promote its image, showcase its values and achievements, and at the same time inspire and strengthen public confidence in the robust and sustainable development of the road transport sector in the new era.

Previously, on April 27th, 2023, the Director of the Department for Road of Vietnam sent a letter to former leaders of the General Department/Department; retired cadres of the General Department/Department and all cadres, civil servants and employees of Department for Road of Vietnam about the founding day of the Road Transport sector; at the same time expressing his respect and gratitude for the contributions of comrades to the tradition of the Road Transport sector.

Decree No. 73/SL signed by President Ho Chi Minh appointing the Director of the Department of Transport under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.

To express gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations and to inherit and continue the traditions of the Road Transport sector, based on historical documents on Vietnam’s road transport and with reference to opinions from several former leaders of the General Department/Department for Roads of Vietnam over the years, the leadership team and the Party Committee of the Department for Roads of Vietnam agreed to select December 25th, 1951, as the anniversary of the founding of the Road Transport sector. This date marks when President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 72/SL establishing the Transport Department under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, which was announced in Phu Xuyen Commune, Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province (now preserved by the Ministry of Transport as a historical site).
