The plant, with total output of 125 million liters of ethanol per year, is also one of the three biggest projects of this kind in Southeast Asia.

The plant’s main product is ethanol 99.5% that can mix with petrol for making environment friendly E5 petrol.

The project has total investment of VND 600 billion, including over VND100 billion for equipping modern waste water treatment system.

The inauguration of the plant is part of the Government’s plan on bio-fuel development to 2015 with a vision to 2025.

The plant creates over 300 jobs for local residents and over 10,000 farmers will benefit from selling cassava to it.

Some 70% of the plant’s output will be exported to the Philippines, Japan and Australia, said Mr. Lưu Quang Thái, Chairman of the Board of Đồng Xanh Joint Stock Company- the owner of the plant.

Up to now, Việt Nam has a total of 40 stations supplying E5 petrol. It is expected that by 2012, the figure would increase to over 4,000./.
