On May 15, in Ha Noi, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tran Nam had a meeting with the leader of the Housing Savings Bank of Bausparkasse Schwaebisch Hall AG (Federal Republic of Germany) lead by Mr. Christian Oestreich, Director of Oversea Marketing on housing savings projects in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tran Nam said that based on the rate of population growth, urbanization rate, the current demand for social housing in Vietnam is very big. Recently, the Government of Vietnam has issued a number of mechanisms and policies to encourage the Ministry of Construction and organizations to support housing for people, in which propose pilot projects so that banks allowing the people loans for social housing.
According to Deputy Minister, a number of Vietnamese commercial banks visited the model of housing savings banks in Europe, including the Housing Savings Bank in Bausparkasse Schwaebisch Hall AG and noted the success of the model. This can be seen as advantage when the project deployed in Viet Nam.
Mr. Oestrich Christian expressed his wish for collaboration and implementation of the housing savings project in Viet Nam. He believed this kind of project has been implemented effectively in Germany and many other European countries such as Czech, Slovak, Romania, Hungary and some other Asian countries, it is more likely to be successful when implemented in Viet Nam.
In order to the project will be deployed quickly and efficiently, according to Nguyen Tran Nam, the leader of Bausparkasse Schwaebisch Hall AG should send a proposal to the Prime Minister of Viet Nam for consideration and decision to assign to the State Bank, the Ministry of Construction and other related ministries for coordination and implementation.
