Denmark committed to providing DKK 15 million (US 8 million) in aid for the recipient country to focus on scientific and technological application in combating climate change, education and training of Vietnamese researchers, and improvement of research infrastructure.
The money will be disbursed in 2011 to implement at least three selected projects.
Việt Nam belongs to the group of worst-hit countries by climate change while one of Denmark’s top priorities is to granting loans for developing countries to deal with climate change.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Việt Thanh applauded the support of Denmark and believed that the agreement would open up more cooperation opportunities for scientists of the two countries and set significant examples for future applications./.
