Minister Trinh Dinh Dung works with Mr. Wilson Laleau – Minister of the Ministry of Economy & Finance cum Ministry of Trade and Industry – the Republic of Haiti

Ha Noi (July 22nd, 2013) – Minister Trinh Dinh Dung warmly welcomed and worked with the Republic of Haiti Govermental mission led by Mr. Wilson Laleau, Minister of the Ministries of Economy and Finance cum Trade and Industry.

Minister Trinh Dinh Dung briefly introduced to Minister Wilson Laleau about the MOC’s tasks and functions in state management of building materials, urban development and housing, and emphasized some potential-to-cooperate fields between the two countries, especially in those fields under the MOC’s management.

As for the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Minister Dung said the MOC and enterprises under the MOC paid much attention to restructure Haiti, especially to provide construction services and building materials export to Haiti.

Minister Dung believed Vietnam and Haiti would come to agreement in cooperation to exploit each side potential based on good political and diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

At the meeting, Minister Wilson Laleau thanked Minister Dung and the MOC for their warm welcome, and stated this visit would be a remarkable development in Vietnam – Haiti relation. According to Minister Wilson Laleau, Vietnam and Haiti had many things in common. He believed Vietnam’s experiences in poverty elimination, building infrastructure and economy development would be invaluable lessons for Haiti. Minister Wilson Laleau agreed with Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on mutual potential cooperation, especially in building materials, infrastructure development, housing development and agriculture production.

Minister Wilson Laleau confirmed infrastructure in Haiti such as offices, schools, hospitals, houses was dramatically damaged after the earthquake in 2010. In order to restructure, Haiti hoped to receive the support from Vietnam in general and the MOC in particular in terms of cement and steel production and supply, bridge and harbor building, hydropower and thermal power plant building…

During the meeting, Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and Minister Wilson Laleau came to an agreement on those potential fields that would be cooperated in the near future.

After meeting with Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, the Haiti Governmental mission had a working session in more detail with Deputy Minister Nguyen Tran Nam and representatives from departments, agencies and enterprises under the MOC.
