Work starts on 192-million-USD thermal power plant in Lang Son(19/10/2015)

The Power Holding Corporation under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) held a ceremony to kick off construction of the Na Duong II power plant in the northern province of Lang Son on October 16. Covering an area of 11 hectares in Toong Gia Village, San Vien Commune, Loc Binh Cistrict, the coal-fired plant has garnered a total investment of nearly 4.2 trillion VND (192 million USD).

  • An iron and steel complex with annual an capacity of 220,000 tonnes of steel billet officially went into service in the northern mountainous of Cao Bang on October 13.The project, which kicked off in 2012 with a total capital investment of over 1.9 trillion VND (86 million USD) by the Cao Bang Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, covers more than 79 hectares in Chu Trinh commune of Hoa An district.
  • Top-notch sea-view villas, five-star hotels, seaside resorts and a yacht port will sprout up on an artificial island in the southwest province of Kien Giang, as the Phu Cuong Group (PCG) commenced construction on Phu Gia island, the sea-encroaching urban area project, in Rach Gia city on October 13.

  • The Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant ensured electricity supply for the northern central region, especially the Nghi Son Economic Zone, over the past nine months. Nguyen Huu Thinh, Deputy Director of the Nghi Son 1 Thermal Company, said the plant provided 2 billion kWh to the national power grid in January-September.
  • Some 550 villas and row houses are set to be available in Hanoi’s real estate market by the end of this year, according to statistics from Savills Vietnam, the largest property company in the country. By the end of the third quarter this year, the total supply of villas and row houses in Hanoi was estimated at 30,400 units built by 114 property projects. Of the total, 1,200 units were available in the primary market and 29,200 units in the secondary market.
  • Construction of a drainage and waste water treatment system funded by the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Government was commenced in Long Xuyen city, the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, on October 8. The system, covering nearly 133,000 sq.m with more than 55km of pipeline, will be able to drain and treat 30,000 cu.m of waste water released by nearly 24,400 households a day.It will be built at a total cost of over 65.6 million USD, including 46 million USD from the RoK Government’s official development assistance (ODA) through the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the rest covered by the Vietnamese Government.
  • The total consumption of cement till September 2015 rose 3% against the same period of last year to 52.11 million tonnes, according to the Ministry of Construction.
  • Some 30,000 real estate transactions were recorded in the first nine months of 2015, which was tantamount to the combined figures from last year, as heard at a seminar on housing development in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 7.
