On January 14th, 2025, at the Ministry of Construction, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting and worked with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said that 2025 is an important milestone when Vietnam and Singapore celebrate the 52nd anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973 - 2025), 12 years of the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership and the two countries are expected to elevate their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Singapore in the near future.
Emphasizing the role of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs), Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said that there are currently 18 VSIPs in 13 provinces and cities of Vietnam, which are symbols of effective bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Singapore plans to invest in and upgrade VSIPs to support digital transformation and move towards sustainable development to improve the operational efficiency of industrial parks and increase income for Vietnamese workers in these industrial parks.
Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said that Singapore wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in urban infrastructure development, renewable energy development, especially wind power, and hopes that two countries will achieve new cooperation results in these fields. In addition, the two countries need to increase exchanges, share experiences and learn from each other in developing sustainable urban models.
Ambassador Jaya Ratnam respectfully invited Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi to visit Singapore in the near future, meet with partners and leaders of Singaporean ministries and sectors to open up new cooperation opportunities between the two sides, bringing mutual benefits to both countries.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his delight that the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership is growing in many areas. To date, many Singaporean investors and businesses have invested in Vietnam.
Regarding infrastructure development, this is one of three strategic breakthroughs that Vietnam is focusing on investing in for future development. The Ministry of Construction wishes to cooperate with Singaporean partners on infrastructure projects, especially renewable energy and wind power, said Minister Nghi.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that the Ministry of Construction always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for international enterprises, including Singaporean enterprises, to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam, within the framework of current Vietnamese law. The Ministry of Construction will assign a focal point to work with the Singaporean Embassy to promote deeper cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
