Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee PhamQuang Nghi has ordered the municipal authority to accelerate theprogress of land clearance for important projects.
The directive was issued at a meeting between the city’s Party Committee, People’s Committee and People’s Council, and district leaders to review land clearance in the first six months of this year and to devise the main tasks for the last six months of 2011.
There are currently over 1,000 projects in Hanoi that need land clearance, an increase of 9.9% compared to the same period last year.
Over 10,000 hectares of land belonging to 186,000 organisations, households and individuals will be reclaimed and over 16,000 households will be resettled.
In the past six months, the city has completed clearing land for 131 projects, reclaimed 943 hectares and paid VND 8,316 billion (US$407 million) in compensation to displaced individuals and organisations.
Nhandan
