Expansion of Dung Quất Economic Zone approved

The acreage of Dung Quất Economic Zone will be increasedto 45,332 hectares, from 10,300 hectares, according to PM Nguyễn TấnDũng’s recent Decision No. 124/QĐ-TTg.
The Dung Quất Economic Zone
A ceremony to introduce the PM’s decision was held on Saturday by Quảng Ngãi People’s Committee.
After 15 years of establishment, Dung Quất Economic Zone becomes a driving force for Quảng Ngãi’s high economic growth. It is considered one of the most dynamic economic zones in Việt Nam.
Under the decision, Dung Quất Economic Zone will serve as a multi-sector investment destination, including industry-trade-service, agriculture and forestry.
Of the investment sectors, petro-chemistry, steel production, ship-building are among the key industries of the zone.
Dung Quất Economic Zone will also function as the transport hub for the central region and central highlands.
It is estimated that by 2025, the economic zone will be home to some 482,000 residents, including 310,000 urban dwellers.
On the occasion, the Zone Management Board also granted licenses to three investment projects with total registered capital of VND 1,700 billion.
