Initial surveys found that 8.6% of Việt Nam’s land area boasts a high potential for wind energy.
However, the national wind power output is still moderate, standing at just 150-200 MW.
High rates of investment and geographical and weather disadvantages are partly blamed for limitations in wind energy output.
In addition, a lack of detailed plans guiding the implementation of wind power projects has made the problem hard to crack.
Mr. Trần Văn Nhựt, Director of Industry and Trade Department of Bình Thuận said that the locality would allocate barren lands for investors to develop wind power.
EVN Deputy General Director Đinh Quang Tri said he hoped the early introduction of policies and mechanisms for wind power project would ease power shortage for the nation./.
