Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Dung appreciated the achievements thatThanh Hoa province, particularly Yen Dinh district, has made in the cause of building new-style rural areas over the past years.

The Deputy PM also asked the district’s authorities to promote the task of building new rural areas, innovate economic growth models, and develop industry and service sectors towards increasing productivity, quality, efficiency and sustainability.

Deputy PM Dung noted that the district should boost agricultural production and application of scientific and technological advances, as well as enhance co-operation with other localities, link production with consumer markets and establish a brand for products.

New rural areas have been materialising in many provinces throughout the country, helping to reduce poverty, improve the living standards of rural residents and transform the rural landscape.

Under the rural modernisation programme, started in 2010, rural communes must meet 19 sets of criteria ranging from infrastructure and economic development, to culture and education to be recognised as new rural areas.
