PM launches construction of VND5 trillion resort in Hai Phong

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued an order for the construction of the Hon Dau luxury resort in Dau islet in Do Son district, the northern port city of Hai Phong on May 7.

The resort is invested by Him Lam Corporation at a total investment of VND5 trillion (US$225 million). The project is built on an area of about 100 ha and includes entertainment areas, hotels, villas, beaches, a 2km cable car system connecting Do Son peninsula to Dau islet and ancillary works.

The project is expected to be put into full operation by 2021, with artificial beaches, commercial buildings, entertainment areas and some apartments, hotels, and villas to be put into operate by 2018.

Speaking at the launch, PM Phuc said that Hai Phong has cared for and co-operated with entrepreneurs for development. Tourism in Hai Phong in particular and the country in general were still untapped, he said, adding that the potential was relatively large for sector development.

The government leader urged Him Lam, along with other investors to pour investment to this field to turn Hai Phong and other potential localities into attractive tourist destinations with major brands for local and national development.

The PM also asked relevant ministries, local governments and businesses to actively support each other to create big brands, while facilitating mechanisms, institutions and policies to encourage tourism development and mobilising the whole community to be involved in tourism activities, especially in ensuring security and order and environmental sanitation to facilitate tourism development.
