The US$1.1 billion project, invested by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), will produce a further 600MW of power.
The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project will be implemented by the Doosan Heavy Industry Group of the Republic of Korea, the Mitsubishi Group of Japan, the Power Engineering Consulting JSC. 2 and the Pacific Corporation.
The project takes advantage of the available infrastructure of the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant which is under construction with advanced technologies, ensuring effectiveness, appropriate costs and environmental protection.
The plant is designed to produce approximately 3.6 billion kWh of power to serve socio-economic development in the central southern region and southern provinces and cities, contributing to easing the power shortage in the dry season and reducing power losses in transmission from the north to the south.
On the occasion, the EVN provided VND5.2 billion (US$234,000) to build eight new classrooms for the Sao Mai Kindergarten in Tuy Phong district and contractors donated VND2 billion to charity funds of the district.
