Dinh Vu-Cat Hai EZ Planning adjusted

The PM has agreed in principle adjustments to the master plan on building the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone (EZ) in the coastal city of Hai Phong to 2020.
The adjustments were suggested by the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee,
Earlier, the PM approved a general plan on building the EZ to 2025, turning the zone into a multi-sector EZ of the northern coastal region and the country towards forming an international logistic hub playing the role as a Southeast Asia’s maritime economic center along with advanced industry and attractive urban areas in order to attract high quality human resources.
The EZ construction is in line with the planning on development of Hai Phong city, the northern key EZ, the Kunming-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong and Nanning-Lang Son-Ha Noi-Hai Phong economic corridors to create a close linkage with the Van Don-Quang Ninh EZ.
The adjustments include the supplement of international passenger and liquid cargo ports, the position of a port on Cat Hai island and the turning of CaiTrap island as an eco-region which also houses commerce and luxury resorts and entertainment facilities.
According to the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee, the adjustments aim to promote strengths of Lach Huyen Port and tourism potential of Cai Trap island.
The PM assigned the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee to study ideas of the Ministry of Construction to devise, examine and approve the adjustments as regulated.
