Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha presented the Medal for the Cause of the Construction industry to Mr. Ousmane Dione, Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam for his valuable contributions for the development of Vietnam Construction industry on June 22nd.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Minister Pham Hong Ha said that during his working term in Vietnam, as the Country Director of the World Bank, Mr. Ousmane Dione had made important contributions in promoting and developing Vietnam in terms of economy, culture and society, and strengthened cooperation between Vietnam and the World Bank.
Over the years, Mr. Ousmane Dione and the World Bank have helped Vietnam to improve the institutional building capacity as well as the State management capacity of the government from the central to local levels, and enhance Vietnam’s position in the context of strong international integration, associated with the most efficient use of capital from the World Bank.
Particularly, for the construction industry, Mr. Ousmane Dione and the World Bank have assisted the Ministry of Construction to effectively implement many programs on technical infrastructure development and urban development in the North and the South of Vietnam. This helped the Vietnamese urban system to sustainability develop, becoming a center for innovation and creation activities, and boosting the country's economic growth.
Minister Pham Hong Ha shared his memories of the 3 years anniversary in June 2017, when the Minister and Mr. Ousmane Dione signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Construction and the World Bank on establishing the cooperation on urban development and sustainable infrastructure for the 2017-2021 period. The WB has provided technical assistance, capacity building, and international experiences to the Ministry of Construction.

Mr. Ousmane Dione expressed his honour when Minister Pham Hong Ha awarded the Medal for Construction Career - the highest award of Vietnam's construction industry. Mr. Ousmane Dione thanked Minister Pham Hong Ha and leaders of the Ministry of Construction, leaders of units under the Ministry to pay attention and work closely with the World Bank, contributing to help him best fulfill his duties during his working term in Vietnam.
Mr. Ousmane Dione emphasized that the World Bank always cared and contributed good things to Vietnam and the Ministry of Construction. The World Bank believed in the effective leadership of the Ministry of Construction as well as the Vietnam Government and also said that regardless of his position, he always paid attention to promote cooperation and support the Ministry of Construction and the Government of Vietnam in developing economic and enhancing international integration.
