On December 21st, the Ministry of Construction is expected to announce the launch of the National Database on Construction Activities, the National Smart City Portal, and nine specialized databases.

According to Le Thanh Tung, Director of the Information Technology Center (Ministry of Construction), the completion and deployment of the national database on construction activities, the National Smart City Portal, and the specialized databases hold great significance for the construction industry.

The announcement ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 21st at the headquarters of the Ministry of Construction.

According to Mr. Le Thanh Tung, these are tasks assigned to the Ministry of Construction by the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation; the Government and the Prime Minister.

"To date, the national database on construction activities has been completed, including datasets on urban and rural planning; construction investment projects and works; construction norms, project costs, and construction price indices. The system has been deployed nationwide, connected with the information system for administrative procedures and other national and sectoral databases," added Mr. Le Thanh Tung, Director of the IT Center.

Also according to the Information Technology Center, the Center has coordinated with the Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management and the Department of Planning and Architecture to standardize professional procedures, develop the system, and is ready for nationwide implementation from January 1st, 2026. The managing units of the nine specialized databases have basically completed software development and upgrades and have connected to the Ministry’s shared database.

The nine specialized databases include: Railway transport infrastructure; Road transport infrastructure; Air transport infrastructure; Construction professional capacity; Maritime vessels and seafarers; Vehicle inspection; Urban water supply and drainage; Housing and real estate market; Urban development.

The National Smart City Portal serves as the central hub for providing information, standards, regulations, and monitoring activities related to smart city development. It also offers online services and is interconnected with other government information systems.

In addition, the National Smart City Portal integrates a monitoring dashboard that publicly displays, visually and periodically updates KPI indicators aligned with the national smart city development orientation.

The Ministry of Construction's simultaneous announcement and launch of the national database on construction activities, the National Smart City Portal, and nine specialized databases is not only great significance for the construction industry, but also lays the foundation for implementing data-driven management and operations, as well as providing end-to-end online public services for citizens and businesses.
