Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan and Editor-in-Chief of Construction Newspaper Nguyen Thi Hong Nga presented commemorative books to guests attending the launch ceremony.

The book "The Miracle of 3,000km of Expressway" consists of two main parts with a total of 276 pages.

Part 1: Two decades of breakthrough - recreating the journey of shaping expressway development in Vietnam, from the initial participation with the first expressway, from early master planning to a phase of rapid development with achievements likened to unprecedented miracles in history. It offers readers a vivid picture of the transformation of regions along the project routes, along with perspectives and assessments of a future where “grand highways generate great prosperity.”

It also highlights effective approaches, new thinking, and breakthrough solutions in implementing projects with exceptionally large workloads, extremely challenging construction conditions, and highly complex technical requirements. This includes the transformation and technological self-reliance of domestic enterprises and contractors as they grow stronger and take ownership of technology in domestic market.

Part 2: Pioneering - a collection of articles capturing the imprints of major transportation enterprises that boldly “went ahead to pave the way,” taking on the most challenging tasks and making significant contributions to the rapid completion of large-scale, landmark expressway projects.

Editor-in-Chief of Construction Newspaper Nguyen Thi Hong Nga introduces the book “The Miracle of 3,000 km of Expressways.”

In her remarks introducing the book “The Miracle of 3,000 km of Expressways,” Nguyen Thi Hong Nga, Editor-in-Chief of Construction Newspaper, shared that the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam identified infrastructure development as one of the three strategic breakthroughs. With the attention and guidance of the Party and the National Assembly, and the strong direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the transport construction sector has just experienced an unprecedented breakthrough period in its history.

After a long journey filled with countless challenges, in the spirit that “resources stem from thinking; motivation stems from innovation; strength stems from the people and businesses,” as directed by the Prime Minister, more than 1,800 km of expressways were put into operation in just five years, far exceeding the total achieved over the previous nearly 20 years combined.

This result not only contributes to successfully achieving the goal of 3,000km of expressways nationwide by 2025, as set by the 13th Party Congress, but is also regarded as a true miracle.

The book is not merely a reference on infrastructure development, but also a source of inspiration for those pursuing dreams and aspirations to rise higher. It reminds us that with determination and a spirit of unity, nothing is impossible.

Along the journey of renewing thinking and striving for breakthroughs, the editorial team of the book places special emphasis on recognizing the growth and maturity of investors and construction contractors. They are the ones who, day by day, diligently wrote their own stories on the vast expressway construction sites - arduous and challenging, yet also filled with pride and glory. And they also strived to create the next miracles, soon reaching the 5,000km of expressways by 2030.

To pay tribute to the pioneers who paved the way and to mark a brilliant stage in the development of Vietnam’s expressway system, Construction Newspaper has compiled the publication “The Miracle of 3,000 km of Expressways.”

Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan stated that 2025 is the final year of the 2021-2025 term, a period during which investment in infrastructure development has been given strong attention by the Party and the State and identified as one of the strategic breakthroughs for socio-economic development.

The transportation sector has been entrusted by the Party and the State with implementing many key national projects, including the goal of realizing 3,000km of expressways, set in a context of unprecedented changes and challenges.

These challenges include resource constraints, the Covid-19 pandemic, fluctuating prices of materials, and climate change.

However, under the guidance and leadership of the Party and the State, with the attention of the National Assembly, the close direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the unified and responsible participation of ministries, sectors, and local authorities especially the support of people in project-affected areas and the day-and-night efforts of investors and contractors, difficulties were gradually overcome, and the projects “endure rain and sun” to reach completion on schedule.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that beyond the numbers, the 3,000 km expressway journey represents a “revolution” in management thinking, route development, and connectivity, serving as a “training ground” that has forged the will and aspirations of the Vietnamese people.

“To achieve the goal of 5,000 km of expressways within the next five years, nearly 2,000 km of new expressways must be completed, requiring management authorities, investors, and contractor enterprises to continuously accumulate experience, enhance their capabilities, and combine their strengths to conquer new challenges”, Tuan emphasized.

The Deputy Minister expressed his confidence that despite the challenges, the Party’s orientation and breakthrough resolutions will serve as a solid foundation, creating momentum for the entire sector and for enterprises to have sufficient confidence, strength, and resources to realize the set goals. He also expressed his belief that construction industry enterprises, facing new opportunities, will rapidly grow stronger and become a driving force and a vital resource in nation-building.
