The program to learn and share experiences on smart cities and construction technology in Korea in 2023 within the framework of the Project of Establishing a Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology

From May 14 to 20, 2023, the delegation of the Ministry of Construction led by Mr. Tran Huu Ha - Director of the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities (Academy/AMC), accompanied with representatives of units under MoC; Department of Construction of Thua Thien Hue Province and the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities, had a program to learn and share experiences in Korea about smart cities and construction technology.

The learning and experience sharing program for the Ministry of Construction's Delegation took place in 6 days (from May 15, 2023 to May 20, 2023), including main contents such as: Attending a Smart Construction Workshop and visitting some places: KICT's research room (BIM room, Zero energy project,...), Seoul Smart City Center, SK Group's T.um, Land Development Museum of MOLIT, Jeju Environmental Resource Cycling Center, Seoul city hall Digital Center, meeting Mid-term Report of the project Establishing Vietnam - Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology (referred to as VKC project) at KICT headquarters.

Representatives of KICT leaders are very pleased to welcome the delegation of the Ministry of Construction to Korea. Korea as one of the leading countries in Asia in developing a smart city model has had many successes in planning, traffic management, and resident management, environmental management, so it can share with Vietnam valuable practical experiences and some directions for further cooperation in the process of urban development in Vietnam.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Mr. Tran Huu Ha - Director of the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities expressed his pleasure and thanked the Korean side, especially KICT for supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Project. During the working process, the delegation exchanged useful information about smart cities, experienced high-tech products in the transportation system, infrastructure, housing and environmental treatment in Korea. The delegation was also introduced to Korea's phased land development plan, typical works in the world built by Korean companies. In particular, during this study tour, the delegation visited the Jeju Environmental Resource Cycle Center. This is Jeju's sustainable waste management and disposal site with processing scale of 500 tons of garbage/day; waste is sorted at source.

The center applies environmentally friendly technologies and generates revenue by converting waste into energy, supporting renewable energy (solar and wind power). At the end of the study and field visit, the delegation attended the mid-term report of the project "Establishment of the Vietnam - Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology (VKC). This is a cooperation project between the two countries which aiming to strengthen training capacity and exchange technology on smart cities. The project also makes an important contribution to Vietnam in promoting the improvement of institutions and legislation on smart city development, application of construction technology and good management for sustainable development of Vietnamese cities in the future.
