Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his pleasure to visit and work with Minister Maggiotti
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi noted the results of cooperation between the two ministries in the past time, the two sides have implemented the contents of the minutes in the VII meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on economic, trade and science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina signed in August 2021, including a cooperation agreement in the field of construction.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also summarized the functions and tasks of the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and some key achievements achieved in 2022.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam is a government agency that performs in 9 areas: planning, architecture, construction investment, housing development and management, offices, real estate, urban development, urban technical infrastructure and building materials.
In 2022, the Construction industry achieved the main results: the average housing area of the whole country reached 25.5m2/person; the national urbanization rate reached 41.7%; the percentage of population in urban areas supplied with clean water through the centralized water supply system is estimated at 94.2%; cement consumption reached 85.36 million tons.

The Vietnam Ministry of Construction and the Argentina Ministry of Territorial Development and Habitat strengthen specialized cooperation exchanges, which will make an important contribution to promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina.
In February 2022, the Vietnam Ministry of Construction and the Argentina Ministry of Territorial Development and Habitat held an online meeting to exchange industry management experience in architectural planning, housing, urban and infrastructure development and building materials.
The Vietnam Ministry of Construction wished to strengthen the exchange of delegations, exchange of information and share experiences in the field of architectural planning, housing development, especially social housing development, smart green cities responding to climate change, develop technical infrastructure and construction materials.
Also at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi invited Minister Maggiotti to visit and work with the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam in the near future.
Minister Maggiotti emphasized that the two ministries have many similar areas of state management. The mission of the Argentina Ministry of Territorial Development and Habitat is to plan the city, in conjunction with local authorities. Currently, the Ministry is focusing on coordinating with localities to plan the areas where houses can be built.
According to Minister Maggiotti, the lands in Argentina are all privately owned. In order to be built, they must ask permission from the government, so the price of land is quite different, people have to buy the lands with the price that could be five times higher than the land price set by the state. Minister Maggiotti also discussed with Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi about Argentina's experiences, development policies, and beneficiaries of social housing.
