The delegation of the Ministry of Construction led by Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a visit and worked with Laos Minister of Public Works and Transport Viengsavath Siphandone within the framework of the official visit to Laos by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on May 16th.

At the meeting, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his pleasure to visit and work with Laos Minister of Public Works and Transport. He hoped that the visit and working would contribute to tighten the relationship between the ministries as well as the relationship between two countries.
In 2018, Vietnam Ministry of Construction and Laos Ministry of Public Works and Transport signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the field of state management such as exchanging of documents, experts and experience, research and compilation of legal documents on architecture, urban planning, water supply and environmental sanitation, construction investment project management, contract management, construction investment cost management, construction quality management, train human resources and creation conditions for Vietnamese construction enterprises to participate in construction investment projects in Laos.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that two sides should review the signed contents to evaluate, learn from experience and strengthen the coordination between the two ministries effectively.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed to establish a new mechanism for effective cooperation between two ministries.
On behalf of Laos Ministry of Public Works and Transport's delegation, Minister Viengsavath Siphandone expressed his hope that the Ministry of Construction would strengthen the cooperation, especially in legal documents and actual issues arising in urban planning, urban architecture issues so that the Laos side could get experience in assigned tasks.
In addition, related to the recent hydropower incident in Southern Laos, the Laos side also wants the Vietnamese side to share experience in troubleshooting, national and regional planning as well as 5-year, 10 years plan.

Meeting between Vietnam Ministry of Construction and Laos Ministry of Public Works and Transport
Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed with the proposal of the Laos side which it was necessary to quickly promote the effective and in-depth cooperation. He also proposed that the Laos side should establish a focal point for the cooperation between the two ministries to solve necessary problems.
Two sides agreed to establish a new mechanism for effective cooperation; especially draft of a cooperation memorandum; jointly organize events to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022 with two major activities: the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty and Vietnam-Laos Cooperation.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi sincerely invited Minister Viengsavath Siphandone to visit Vietnam from June or July. On this occasion, the sides would sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between two ministries. Minister Viengsavath Siphandone accepted the invitation.
