Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh worked with Finnish Minister of Economy and Employment

On behalf of leaders of the MoC, Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh met and worked with the delegation of the Finnish Ministry of Economy and Employment led by Minister Mika Lintila on October 16th at the MoC headquater.

On the MoC side, there were leaders of  department, institutes, corporations and large enterprises of the sector. On the Finnish side, there were the Finnish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Vietnam, Kari Kahiluoto, Deputy Minister of Economy and Employment, Petri Peltonen and Finnish businesses.

Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh warmly welcomed Minister  Mika Lintila, Ambassador Kari Kahiluoto and the delegation of the Finish Ministry of Economy and Employment to MoC, especially on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation of two countries. Deputy Minister Linh said that in recent years, the Finish Government has actively supported the Ministry of Construction in implementing many activities and projects, including the Clean Water Program and Sanitation in small towns in Vietnam, helping  improve the policy mechanism, supporting to improve management capacity for staff in the water supply sector in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Construction is assigned by the Government of Vietnam to implement the Mekong River Water Supply Project. In order to ensure that the project is implemented effectively, the Ministry of Construction would like to receive the assistance from the Government of Finland for research and study policies, models of regional management.

The MoC hoped to receive the Finish cooperation in the implementation of solid waste management and treatment projects, especially the solid waste management at the source, converting solid waste into energy; to  review and build a system of standards related to solid waste disposal and energy saving; apply management models and implement specific cooperation projects in the field of solid waste, wastewater, energy saving, smart urban development projects, climate adaptation urbanization, sustainable development; model study of circulating economy and application in urban areas.

Deputy Minister Linh expected the Finish Government to sooner approve the Proposal on “Capacity Building for Climate Adaptation Urbanization in Viet Nam", which will be used as a basis for co-operation between the two sides”.

Minister Mika Linita thanked Deputy Minister Linh for the reception and said the MoC to play a particularly important role in promoting cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Finland over the years.

Minister Mika Lintila emphasized that the Government of Finland always cares and facilitates the Government of Vietnam in general, the Ministry of Construction in particular, especially in the fields of water supply and drainage and waste treatment, energy saving, smart urban development, climate change adaptation.

She expressed that cooperation between the two governments is increasingly promoted more in the future. The two sides are interested in jointly implementing specific activities and projects to further strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and Finland.
