Minister Pham Hong Ha had a working session with Deputy Minister Arata TAKABE and delegation of Japan Ministry of Environment at the MoC’s headquarter on May 4th.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Arata TAKEBE expressed his pleasure to visit and work with the Vietnam MoC, and informed to Minister Ha results of working session between the Japan Ministry of Environment and the Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Hanoi People’s Committee.

According to Deputy Minister Arata TAKEBE, Vietnam has rapidly increased in economic along with population, so it is difficult to avoid environmental pollution, waste and wastewater problems. Meanwhile, Japan had a lot experience in waste and wastewater treatment and owned the world’s leading in waste treatment technology.

Deputy Minister Arata TAKEBE highly appreciated the capacity and experience of The Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) – The unit coordinating with Vietnam to implement the project using the techonology of burning electricity generation in Soc Son District, Hanoi. Deputy Minister TAKEBE also said that “Japan is willing to cooperate and support Vietnam in implementing waste treatment projects with the technology of burning electricity generation as well as projects on green growth, sustainable development, policy consultant”.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Pham Hong Ha highly appreciated the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan now being promoted in many fields such as politics, economy, trade and infrastructure development. On the basis of cooperation between the two governments, the Ministry of Construction has also strengthened its cooperation with Japanese government agencies, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.

According to Minister Ha, Vietnam is currently facing with challenges in waste treatment in both of rural and urban areas. Therefore, Vietnam is interested in the technology of burning electricity generation. The MoC is synthesizing and drawing on international experiences in order to provide the best orientation on the development of the technology of burning electricity in Vietnam in the coming time, which turns waste treatment into an economic sector to contribue to national development.

Minister Pham Hong Ha said that “Vietnam is very interested in the following areas: Policy consultancy; technology and equipment apply to each project; Specific cooperation between Vietnamese enterprises and international partners in the field of waste treatment, especially with Japan. The Ministry of Construction always creates favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises to cooperate and implement projects using the technology of burning electricity generation in Vietnam quickly and effectively”.
