Introducing Standard for Stabilization of Soft Soil – Mass Stabilization Method

Hanoi (November 28th, 2015) – The MOC held a conference “Standard for Stabilization of Soft Soil - Mass Stabilization Method”. Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung, Finnish Ambassador in Vietnam IIkka Pekka Simila, Deputy Governor of State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu and Mr. Vu Quang Bao General Director Bitexco cum Chairman of the Green BCX JSC who was transferred stabilization soft soil technology by Finland partners attended the conference.

Opening the conference, Deputy Minister Hung acknowledged that mass method for soft soil stabilization technology had been applied popularly in the world, especially in European countries and determined its important role in the construction field.

Mr. Hung desired both countries’s experts to analyze this technology’s strengths in detail in terms of economic, social and environmental aspects compared to other technologies. In addition, Mr Hung suggested experts clearly define how and when to apply this technology most effectively and propose ideas in building Standard for Stabilization of Soft Soil in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Mr. IIkka Pekka Simila rated Vietnam as a dynamic and strong growth country, highly appreciated the cooperation ties between the Governments of Vietnam and Finland in recent years and affirmed it would be further developed when this technology was transferred.

The mass stabilization method helps to renovate and convert mud and soft soil into high intensity soil, to overcome the land subsidence phenomenon and to withstand the load of different types of works such as civil construction works, transportation, airport and port works... Besides, by utilizing industrial wastes such as fly ash and slag from thermal power plants as additives, adhesives to handle the soft soilit helps to protect environment.

Deputy Minister Hung made a survey on the technology in the Manor Central Park.

Mr. Bao The Green BCX JSC Chairman of the Board said that: “Currently, protecting environment is the global challenge and Vietnam is one of the 10 countries which are strongly surferred from related environment issues. Green architecture to respond to climate change is the top priority in Bitexco. As a matter of fact, BCX was founded to fulfil Bitexco mission in receiving, developing and widely applying the mass stabilization technology transferred by Finnish partner in Vietnam”.

Mr. Pentti Viitikko - Chairman of RUSOL company - the BCX’s partner shared: “At present, we are testing some works in Hanoi. We hope the technical standards will be approved and announced soon as European standards which are tranferred to local partners and functional units”.

Earlier, Deuty Minister Hung directly surveyed the technology at the construction site in the Manor Central Park.
