The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Science and Technology signs Cooperation program for the period of 2016 – 2020

Hanoi (October 29th, 2015) – The Ministry of Construction (MOC), with the presence of Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, Deputy Ministers Le Quang Hung, Nguyen Dinh Toan and Do Duc Duy, and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), with the presence of Minister Nguyen Quan, Deputy Ministers Tran Viet Thanh, Tran Van Tung, Tran Quoc Khanh and Pham Dai Duong, singed the Cooperation program for the period of 2016 – 2020.

At the signing ceremony, Minister Trinh Dinh Dung confirmed that as the state authority being in charge of construction investment, planning, urban development, urban technical infrastructure and industrial zones…, the MOC paid much attention to apply science and technology achivements to develop the construction sector, and as the result, to develop the country economy. Acknowledging the importance of science and technology in the construction sector, Minister Dung asserted the MOC would firstly focus on science and technology to create favourable investment environment, attract talents and scientists, and secondly cooperate with domestic and foreign units and organizations. However, according to Minister Dung, there were some restrictions on applying science and technology in construction sector, affecting urban infrastructure, transportation and architecture…

On behalf of the MOST, Minister Nguyen Quan highly appreciated the MOC’s great deal of effort to apply science and technology in designing and building major works such as modern high-rise buildings, large span bridges, domestic hydropower plants (Son La, Lai Chau...). Minister Quan believed the Cooperation program between the two Ministries would serve as the dynamic to modernise and industrialise the whole country.
