Hanoi (October 8th, 2015), The MOC Deputy Minister Phan Thị My Linh and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) President Chang Jae Jun signed the Record of Disscussion on Technical Assistance Project for establishment of Vietnam Green city master plan. Representatives of two pronvinces Thai Nguyen and Kien Giang, leaders of the MOC’s functional departments and agencies and representative of Korean Embassy in Vietnam attended the signing ceremony.

Korea and Vietnam has a long-term and close relationship upon many fields; Vietnam MOC and Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) cooperated in some fields like planning, improving urban management capacity. However, in developing green city, this is the first project coordinated by two ministries under KOICA’s proposal.
The technical assistance project for establishment of Vietnam green city master plan (the Project), supported by Korea Government through KOICA within 3 years from 2015, will be implemented in 2 cities namely Yen Binh (Thai Nguyen province) and Rach Gia (Kien Giang province).
At the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Linh asserted that the Record of Discussion was one of the most important content to implement the National Strategy for Green Growth of Vietnam Government aiming to sustainable development.
With the Record of Discussion signed, KOICA’s specialists will support the MOC on building criteria and standard system to develop green city. Deputy Minister Linh believed that with the KOICA’s strong support, tight coordination between the MOC and the People’s Committee of those cities participating in the Project, the Project would be implemented quickly and effectively.
Mr. Chang Jae Jun pleased when the Record of Disscussion was signed between the MOC and the KOICA, and confirmed the Record of Discussion on the Technical Assistance Project for establishment of Vietnam Green city master plan as an expression of support from Korea Government toward the National Strategy for Green Growth of Vietnam Government.
Mr. Chang Jae Jun desired that from these two pilot cities (in Thai Nguyen and Kien Giang provinces), in the future, the Project would be expanded in numerous cities and provices in Vietnam.
