The southern province of Tây Ninh is placing transport connectivity at the heart of its development agenda, with a strong focus on building new roads and upgrading existing ones to link more directly with HCM City, its closest major urban and economic hub.

According to the Tây Ninh People’s Committee, the two localities currently share 37 connection points through the road network.

These include existing routes, projects under construction, and planned but not yet implemented links.

Of these, 11 points have been jointly identified as priorities for the 2023–25 period.

To date, only two connections have been fully completed: the provincial road 826E route in Tây Ninh linking with Long Hậu road in the city, built to a six-lane standard, and provincial road 824 in Tây Ninh connecting to Nguyễn Văn Bứa road in HCM City, with a four-lane design.

Recognising the urgent need to strengthen transport infrastructure, Tây Ninh has proposed that both sides prioritise investment in nine additional key links in the immediate future.

Among them, provincial road 823D, a 14.2km route currently under construction with six lanes, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The province has called on the city to develop a new Northwest road to ensure seamless connectivity with provincial road 823D.

Tây Ninh has also put forward the joint development of the Bình Dương–Tây Ninh dynamic axis during 2026–30.

The project, stretching more than 42km, will initially be built with four to six lanes and upgraded to 10 lanes in its final stage.

At the same time, Tây Ninh has urged the city to extend Võ Văn Kiệt boulevard to link with Tây Ninh’s Đức Hòa dynamic axis.

The section bordering the city, 4.7km long, has already been completed by Tây Ninh with six lanes, while the province plans to invest in the remaining 23.5 km, designed with eight to ten lanes.

In addition, Tây Ninh has recommended that the city accelerate investment in other important connections, including the Sài Gòn riverside road and provincial road 789, the road and bridge link National Highway 56B, Lê Văn Lương road with provincial road 826C, and National Highway 50B.

Nguyễn Văn Út, Chairman of the Tây Ninh People’s Committee, stressed that the province is concentrating resources on transport development to enhance its attractiveness to investors, support urbanisation and create new momentum for socio-economic growth.

He noted that many large-scale inter-regional projects are being prioritised, such as HCM City’s Ring Roads 3 and 4, the HCM City – Mộc Bài Expressway, and National Highway 50B.

The completion of these projects, together with existing and planned routes, will establish a more comprehensive transport network linking Tây Ninh with the city, the Mekong Delta and the broader Southeast region.

This will not only improve travel and logistics for residents and businesses but also generate strong leverage for economic and social development in Tây Ninh and neighbouring provinces.
