Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized the impressive achievements in Vietnam-Korea cooperation in recent years, especially in December 2022, the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership which created an important legal basis to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation in the coming time.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that the Construction industry actively contributed to Vietnam's socio-economic development process. In 2022, despite the serious impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and global inflation, Vietnam's GDP growth would still reach about 8.02%, in which the growth rate of the Construction industry was about 8.17%.

Regarding cooperation between the two ministries, on June 3, 2013, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Environment of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding on urban environmental infrastructure development. To date, the implementation of cooperation contents has achieved many positive results, which help to connect businesses of the two countries operating in the field of water supply and improve the capacity of the state management in this field.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated Korea's experience and scientific and technological capacity in the field of urban environmental infrastructure, and believed that these experiences would help Vietnam better implement its orientations, plans and tasks in this field.
The Ministry of Construction wants the two sides to focus on cooperation contents on institution building, human resources training and development, investment cooperation in urban development and technical infrastructure, specifically: exchange and share information and experiences in building policy mechanisms for green and smart urban development; respond to climate change towards sustainable development goals; manage urban waste and urban land in Korea; support the Ministry of Construction to research and develop the Law on Water Supply and Drainage and the Decree guiding the Law; support ODA projects on urban development and urban technical infrastructure development; maintain training programs for Vietnamese state management officials on urban development and technical infrastructure development.

Minister Han WhaJin thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and leaders of units under the MoC for warm welcome, and said that Korea and Vietnam were expanding cooperative relations in many fields of politics, economics, culture and society since the establishment of diplomatic relations in December 1992.
Minister Han WhaJin highly appreciated the cooperation proposals of the Ministry of Construction and said that the Korean Ministry of Environment would research and had information to exchange on these contents.
She also informed about a number of projects in the fields of wastewater treatment, growth, and green development that are being supported and implemented by Korea in some localities of Vietnam; expressed her hope that the cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Environment of Korea towards green transformation and development of urban environmental infrastructure would achieve many good results.

At the Signing Ceremony, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and Minister Han WhaJin both believed that the Memorandum of cooperation on urban environmental infrastructure development between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Environment of Korea would be an important basis for the two sides to further promote cooperation in the coming time, contributing to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea.
