Establishment of Vietnam - Korea cooperation center on smart cities and construction technology

Vietnam Ministry of Construction cooperated with the Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MoLIT) to organize the launching ceremony of the project “Vietnam – Korea cooperation center for smart city and construction technology (VKC)” on October 11th.

Mr Le Trung Thanh added that the project will concretize the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Construction and MoLIT on urban development and construction technology (signed in March 2018) and Cooperation Agreement between the two ministries on urban development and construction technology (signed in September 2021); strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh also acknowledged the positive results that the Ministry of Construction and MoLIT have achieved in cooperation and exchange of experiences in formulating policies and laws on housing development management, social housing, urban planning, and smart cities development.

The VKC project aims to improve institutions and laws on smart city development; apply construction technology in the development of the construction industry; strengthen the capacity of policy-making agencies, local management levels through the development of guidelines on smart cities in Vietnam and activities to strengthen training capacity, exchange smart city technology.



The Korean side's representative handed over 70 computers that were aided by the Korean Government to Vietnam to serve the project.

According to the Organizing Committee, on the Vietnamese side, the Ministry of Construction assigned the task of implementing the project to the Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities (AMC), the Urban Development Department, the Department of Architectural Planning and other relevant bodies. On the Korean side, the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, the Korean Human Settlement Research Institute, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and the Korea Advanced Infrastructure Technology Agency were the main responsible for the Project.



 The delegates of the two sides pressed the button to establish the Vietnam - Korea cooperation center on smart cities and construction technology.

The VKC project aims to establish a professional center to promote research and training in smart cities and advanced construction technologies to contribute to the development of smart cities in Vietnam, concretize Vietnam's guidelines and policies in promoting sustainable smart city development by 2030 and strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.
