Enhance cooperation between Ministry of Construction and Finland

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi welcomed and worked with Finland Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen in presence of Finnish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Keijo Norvanto, leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction on October 10^th.

Vietnam Ministry of Construction has always been an important partner of the Finnish Government, especially in the field of clean water supply, so Finland was always ready to share management experiences and concretize cooperation activities with Vietnam.

According to Minister Antti Kurvinen, 2023 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Finland. The two sides will continue to strongly promote cooperation in the fields of economy, politics and trade, particularly in agriculture, forestry and renewable resources.

Regarding to the climate change, Minister Antti Kurvinen said that this had been a global issue, directly affecting the fields that both ministries managed. Through this cooperation, Vietnam and Finland will find suitable solutions to solve existing problems as well as identify new areas of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland will continue to have new developments. The Ministry of Construction will create favorable conditions for Finnish businesses to invest and do business in Vietnam.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also thanked the Finnish Government and the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for their supporting the Ministry of Construction in many areas under its state management roles and functions, especially in water supply and drainage and clean water management.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his wish that in the coming time, Finland will cooperate with the Ministry of Construction to study solutions to ensure the quality of water and water supply service in urban areas; study the organization and management model of water supply for urban and rural areas; and coordinate with and support Vietnam in building the Law on Water Supply and Drainage. Within the scope of its functions and powers, the Ministry of Construction always paid attention to and created favorable conditions for international businesses, including Finnish enterprises, to invest and do business in Vietnam under Vietnamese Law.

In addition, both ministries have agreed to review and prepare to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the near future. Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assigned the Technical Infrastructure Department (Ministry of Construction) to coordinate with the Finish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to establish and promote cooperative relations between two ministries.
