Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi receives Senior Advisor of JBIC Bank and Japan MLIT leaders

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with Mr. Hiroto Izumi - Senior Advisor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Mr. Ishizaka Satoshi - Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan on the contents of strengthening the cooperation relationship between the Ministry of Construction and Japanese partners.

Senior Advisor Hiroto Izumi thanked Mr Nguyen Thanh Nghi for warmly welcome and said: “Over the years, Vietnam and Japan have always paid attention to develop friendly relationship and will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2023.”

Japanese government and business have always identified Vietnam as an important partner. Recently, Japanese businesses have had the opportunity to participate in the construction and development of offices, houses, railways and universities in Vietnam. However, Japanese enterprises still faced some problems and hoped to discuss with the Ministry of Construction to find solutions, especially issues related to fire safety and shortening the construction permit period.

Mr. Hiroto Izumi and leaders of Japanese businesses proposed to the Ministry of Construction a number of contents on effective use of natural resources, especially the use of wood materials in medium and high-rise buildings towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that the Ministry of Construction has a good cooperative relationship with Japanese partners in general and with the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in particular. In the coming time, the Ministry of Construction will continue to maintain and promote this strong cooperation relationship.

Regarding the construction permit time, the Ministry of Construction also proposed to shorten the construction permit time and approved by the National Assembly. In the coming time, the Ministry will study to adjust the construction permit time reasonably, both ensuring strengthening of state management and quality of works and creating favorable conditions for businesses and people.

As for regulations on fire prevention and fighting, the Ministry will continue to review regulations and standards aiming to improve the efficiency of fire prevention and fighting. Regarding the use of wood materials for medium and high-rise buildings, the Ministry of Construction wishes to cooperate with Japanese partners to study the system of standards and regulations for structural timber of medium and high-rise buildings in accordance with the conditions of Vietnam...

At the end of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi thanked Senior Advisor Hiroto Izumi, Deputy Minister Ishizaka Satoshi and representatives of Japanese businesses for useful ideas and hoped to receive the opinions of partners and the businesses, in order to create a favorable environment for businesses to invest in Vietnam. In addition, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assigned the Department of International Cooperation to cooperate with Japanese Embassy to Vietnam to discuss and organize dialogue activities between the Ministry of Construction and Japanese enterprises in order to promptly resolve concerns and further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two sides.
