Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi received and worked with Mr. Park Noh Wan - Korean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam on May 24th.

Mr. Park Noh Wan highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in economic development especially in smart urban development, housing and real estate market. Korea always cooperated and supported Vietnam in implementing ODA projects, including projects in the construction field, said Mr. Park Noh Wan.

The Korean Embassy proposed to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to organize a seminar program for Korean businesses to strengthen cooperation between two sides. Mr. Park Noh Wan wished the Ministry of Construction to create conditions for the Korea Land and Housing Corporation to participate in social housing development projects in Vietnam.

Ambassador Park Noh Wan cordially invited Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and leaders of the Ministry of Construction to visit and work in Korea in order to further improve the cooperation relationship between the Ministry of Construction and Korea partners.

On his side, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his pleasure with the good relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea since officially diplomatic relations established in 1992. In particular, in 2015, two countries have signed the Vietnam - Korea Free Trade Agreement, creating an important legal basis for strongly promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that over the years, the Ministry of Construction and Korean partners, including the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) have cooperated effectively and achieved positive results in formulating legal policies in the field of social housing, urban development in general and smart cities in particular, such as: supporting the Ministry of Construction in the developing the Law on Housing (amended), Law on Real Estate Business (amended); implementing technical assistance ODA projects in the field of planning, housing and urban development. In addition, the Ministry of Construction has actively participated in programs and events hosted by the MOLIT in the field of infrastructure and smart cities such as the 1st ASEAN Infrastructure Ministers Meeting, 2018 Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference, ASEAN - Korea Ministerial Conference 2019 on Smart Cities, ASEAN - Korea Exhibition 2019 on Smart Cities.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed with the proposal the Korean Embassy in organizing a seminar program with the participation of the Korean construction business community in Vietnam, and assigned the Planning – Architecture Department and Legal Affairs Department to exchange with the Korean side in organizing practical and efficiency seminar.

The Ministry of Construction encourages and creates favorable conditions for Korean enterprises in particular and international enterprises in general to expand cooperation, investment and business in Vietnam in accordance with Vietnamese law.
