Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh chaired the scientific workshop on waste incineration technology in clinker kilns in cement factories on March 30th, 2021 with the presence of leaders of functional departments and agencies under the MoC; representatives of Construction Materials Association, Cement Association, representatives of the Hanoi Construction Department, Vietnam Cement Corporation, ThysenKrupp Industrial Solutions Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh chaired the workshop
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh said: The strategy for building materials development in Vietnam for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1266/QD- TTg dated 18/8/2020. Ministry of Construction has assigned the Institute of Construction Materials to research the technology of using energy-containing solid wastes as fuel for cement clinker production for maximum usage of wastes from industries, agriculture, construction and domestic wastes as raw materials, fuels, and sub-sectors.
At the seminar, representatives of ThysenKrupp Company presented about the incineration technology in cement clinker kilns. This is a solution to turn waste into energy in the cement industry with advanced technology that applied in many countries in the world. Instead of using all coal as fuel for cement production, with waste incineration technology in cement clinker kilns, domestic waste has been treated to separate the organic components and the sorting RDF (refuse derived fuel) will be used as an alternative fuel. The advantage of the technology is to provide a simple technical solution to help avoid the unpleasant odors of RDF at the cement plant, environmentally friendly, limitation of greenhouse gas emissions due to waste incineration.
The whole workshop
Also at the seminar, representatives of the Hanoi Department of Construction reported the current situation of domestic solid waste management and treatment in Hanoi city, with the amount of 6,500 tons per day which mainly sent to sanitary landfills, and a small fraction is burned without generation.
Concluding the workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh said that, alternative fuels are useful for the construction sector as well as the environment in Vietnam. According to the Deputy Minister, the waste incineration technology in the cement clinker kiln of ThysenKrupp Company has made certain contributions to the domestic waste treatment problem as an alternative fuel source for cement production in Vietnam.
