In the framework of Vietnam Green Building Week 2020, the Ministry of Construction organized a Conference on equipment, energy efficient technology and resources on December 10th.
The whole conference
Deputy Director of Department of Science, Technology and Environment Nguyen Cong Thinh said: “over the past time, saving energy is one of the top priorities of Vietnam. Following the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Construction has issued Regulation 09: 2017/BXD, and implemented many activities to raise awareness about energy efficiency in construction works: drafting and completing a system of standards and regulations, implementing efficient energy-saving models and projects, training in communication.” Recently, the revised Construction Law in 2020 also contains regulations on the development of efficient energy-saving works. In addition, the MoC is studying to build energy consumption norms for a number of works related to energy usage norms for construction works, including 2 parts: building envelope and equipment used in the construction.
In the 2021 - 2025 period, Hanoi aims to achieve savings of 5-7% of total energy consumption, and reduce power loss to less than 4%. In addition, 100% of key transport enterprises have programs to disseminate the skills of exploiting and using saving energy vehicles; 80% of businesses in industrial zones and 70% of businesses in industrial clusters have access to and apply energy-saving solutions; 100% of key energy consumers apply energy management systems according to regulations. The city also strives to achieve 330 establishments and construction works in the area recognized to use green energy; training and guiding 5,000 staff turns on energy saving and efficient using; training and certification of 250-300 energy management staffs; 60% of schools have propaganda and teaching activities on energy saving and efficient using.
Mr. Yannick Millet - UNDP technical expert said: “buildings and structures in the world today use about 30% of energy and emit approximately 28% of greenhouse gases. It is expected that the number of buildings and construction works will continue to increase in the coming time, causing electricity prices to continuously increase. Therefore, on a global scale, it is necessary to build and design green buildings to optimize energy saving and reduce energy consumption.”
Mr Yannick Miller also affirmed the importance of building envelops in reducing energy consumption and human’s role is much more important than technology.
Mr Yannick Millet also highly appreciated Ministry of Construction’s effort in developing energy efficient buildings and emphasized the participation of many ministries and agencies from the central to local levels, many organizations and the whole society in developing green buildings. Mr. Yannick Millet believed that in the near future, Vietnam would have many green buildings, many buildings using energy efficiently.
