The Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman thanked Minister Ha for warmly welcome, and expressed her pleasure to visit and work with the MoC.
The Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman highly appreciated the role and functions of the MoC as well as the important contributions of Construction industry to the socio-economic development and international integration of Vietnam and expressed her desire to further strengthen the cooperation between the Embassy, units under the Netherlands Government, Netherlands organizations and enterprises with the MoC.
Ms Elsbeth Akkerman said that : “The Netherlans is particularly interested in and want to help Vietnam in developing smart urban, airport urban areas and performing tasks relating to construction, urban infrastructure development and water supply and drainage. In 2019, the Netherlands Prime Minister and leaders of ministries, branches; representatives of enterprises and organizations including those operating in the field of construction and urban development will take a working trip to Vietnam in further promoting the cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands”.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Ha said that Vietnam and the Netherlands have the long-standing cooperative relation in various field and increasingly strengthened and expanded, especially after the visit and working trip to the Netherlands by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in 2017. Recently, in early 2018, the MoC also had a delegation to the Netherlands led by Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh.
Minister Pham Hong Ha highly appreciated the cooperation and support of the Netherlands Government and organizations for Vietnam in implementing projects toward sustainable development. Currently, the MoC is also preparing to implement the Water Supply Project in the Mekong Delta, funded by the World Bank and counterpart fund of the Government of Vietnam. This is an important project, so the MoC is looking forward to receive the attention and assistance of the Netherlands Government in exchanging of experts, appraisal and criticism of the project contents, and deployment tasks related to regional links, urban development, water supply and drainage infrastructure improvement in the Mekong Delta region.
Minister Pham Hong Ha also expressed his desire that the Netherlands Government would strengthen the support to the MOC in implementing projects on smart urban development, urban airports, coastal cities as well as strengthening capacity for the MoC staffs and experts.
