Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh received and worked with the First Secretary – Netherlands Embassador Laurent Umans at the MoC’s headquarter on WaterworX on Jannuary, 22th.

At the working session, two sides have exchanges the next steps of WaterworX program. Mr Laurent Umans desired to study more on the needs of Vietnam Government, determine the detailed content of this technical cooperation and prepare a detailed proposal for funding from the Netherlands Government through via WaterworX Program.
Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh affirmed that, the MoC is focusing on building river basin management, especially for the Mekong River Delta to support the implementation of the Mekong Delta Water Supply Project. In particular, it is necessary to clarify the regional water supply investment regime; the role of the MoC and local authorities for regional water supply; the relationship between the regional water supply companies and the financial capital of system operators; preferential policies for regional water supply project and the authority to decide relevant policies.
Deputy Minister Phan Thi My Linh also agreed with the representative of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sooner organize a seminar with the participation of donors.

WaterworX is managed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs with aims to support developing countries in successfully achieving their sustainable development goal by 2030, and provide access to safe drinking water to 10 million people worldwide.The program has been approved by the Netherlands Government and launched by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017.
The WaterworX program consists of 3 parts: Strengthening the capacity for local water supply companies through reducing water drainage, improving asset management, financial status and revenue; improving the legal environment (policy, law and regulations, transparency); strengthening the capacity to access domestic and international financial resources for investment water supply infrastructure.
