Hanoi, July 29, 2016 – The Vietnam Construction Minister Pham Hong Ha gave aninterview to Cuban Television about the Vietnam - Cuba cooperation relations and activities of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovermental Commission in recent years.

In response to Cuban Television’s reporter about the cooperation relations of both countries’s Party, Government and People in recent years, Minister Ha said, Vietnamese Party, State and People focused on building special cooperation ties with Cuba. As a result, the social and economic relations between two countries achieved many encouraging results in different fields. Currently, bilateral trade turnover reached US$ 200 million/ year, import and export activities increased in both quality and quantity.
Apart from that, the trade and investment relations between two countries had been increasing strongly. Many conferences and seminars had been co- hosted to share Vietnamese experiences in economic reforms, re-structure of state-owned enterprices. In the field of science and technology, education and training, both countries implemented many specific cooperation programs, such as: Cuba granted many scholarships for Vietnamese students; Vietnam also supported 10 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for Cuban students; promoted culture and art exchange activities to help people of two countries, especially for the Vietnamese and Cuban youth, deeper understanding leader Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro as well as culture of each countries.
Minister Pham Hong Ha highly appreciated the cooperation programs in agriculture sector between two countries, especially the rice cultivation in period 2016 - 2020 aiming at helping Cuba can basically meet the domestic food demand itself after 5 years.
On the working session, Minister Ha gave his pleasure for Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernment Commission’s practical and efficiency activities in recent years. Minister Ha highlighted, the success of the 7th Cuba Communist Party Congress and the 12th Vietnam Communist Party Congress as premises to open up the better relationship between two countries.
“In the coming time, Vietnam - Cuba special relations needs to be raised to a new level. Both sides will strive to improving export - import turnover, expanding cooperation forms, accelerating technology tranfering; encouraging both Vietnam and Cuba enterprises to coopearte in the fields of trading, investment, construction materials and information technology”, said Minister Ha.
Minister Ha confirmed Ministry of Construction to actively prepare relevant contents for the session of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee that would be taken place in October 2016, and conditions to expand cooperation relations with the Cuban Ministry of Construction and construction enterprises of Cuba.
