Ha Nam is one of the localities which has great potential for manufacture of building materials and is one of five provinces which produces the largest volume of cement in our country today. Since 2010, the Ha Nam Provincial People’s Committee has approved and determined the quality and reserves of 45 building limestone mines , with total reserves of more than 1,666 million m3. By 2014, Ha Nam province continued to approve the Planning of exploration, exploitation, and use of minerals as common building materials until 2020, and orientation towards 2030 in the province.
Thanks to policies to attract and encourage investmenet logically, Ha Nam had effectively exploited the strength of mineral resources as building materials, to meet the demand of people inside and outside the province, to create employment for thousands of workers, to promote the restructuring along with the growth of the local economy.

Until now, Ha Nam province has formed a number of industrial clusters producing building materials such as: Thanh Thuy Cluster, Thanh Nghi Cluster, But Son Cluster… including building materials production bases with advanced technology, saving energy, environmental friendliness.
Because of many favorable factors, cement production currently plays a key role in the building materials industry in the province of Ha Nam, with many investment projects on producing cement by rotary kiln with large capacity, advanced technology. Besides that, manufacturing of unbaked bricks, building stone, precast concrete... is also being focused to invest, and has grown fast in recent years as a result.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung praised the management of production and trading of building materials in Ha Nam, and identified building materials production as crucial area, greatly contributing to the provincial budget. Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung agreed with the Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee’s policy of selecting certain building material products to be deeply processed in order to save natural resources.

Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung suggested Ha Nam province and its units to focus on producing environmentally friendly building materials, researching and applying modern technologies in the world to utilize fly ash, bottom ash for cement production to further increase its competitiveness.
Receiving the Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung’s comments, Deputy Chairman of Ha Nam Pham Sy Loi recommended the Ministry of Construction (MOC) to further establish policies to encourage investment and development of production and use of unbaked building materials; motivate enterprises to adopt advanced technology to produce unbaked building materials from industrial waste sources; as well as to perfect the system of standards, technique, building guidelines and norms of technology economics involving the manufacture and use of unbaked building materials.
