The first Vice Minister meeting between Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan

Hanoi (June 15th, 2015) – There took place the first Vice Minister meeting between Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan, co-hosted by Vice Ministers Bui Pham Khanh and Kazuhiko Aoki, attended by the Embassador of Japan in Vietnam, representatives from Japanese enterprises, heads of Vietnam MOC’s functional departments, agencies and units.

Before the meeting started, Minister Trinh Dinh Dung had warmly welcome Vice Minister Kazuhiko Aoki and the MLIT mission.

Opening the meeting, Vice Minister Bui Pham Khanh confirmed the meeting aim was to fulfill commitment on annual dialogue and discussion about cooperation themes between the two Ministries. Vice Minister Khanh informed Vice Minister Kazuhiko Aoki about some agreements reached by the Project “Improve capacity in cost estimations, contract, quality and safety management in construction investment projects” which was currently implemented. During the meeting, the two sides would review some works implemented so far in terms of urban development, water supply, wastewater treatment, construction cost management, works quality management improvement.

In response to Vice Minister Bui Pham Khanh, Vice Minister Kazuhiko Aoki stated to further develop Japan - Vietnam relationship in many areas such as infrastructure… In January 2015, the two Ministries signed the comprehensive MoU, cooperation agreement in completing the Law of Construction, works quality management, eco-city development, housing development, wastewater treatment… In April 2015, the two Ministries signed “Minutes of Cooperation between MOC and MLIT on training human resource for the construction area in Vietnam”. Vice Minister Kazuhiko Aoki also warned Vietnam about some problems facing the urban transportation, environment pollution raised by economy and population booming. He hoped that there would be more Vice Minister meetings between the two Ministries to exchange opinions in the coming time.
