Vietnam Airlines has officially launched a direct flight route between Ho Chi Minh City and Copenhagen (Denmark), marking the first time Vietnam has had a direct air connection with the Nordic region. This is an important step in the strategy to expand its European flight network in the 2025-2030 period, meeting the growing demand for tourism, business, trade, and visiting relatives between the two regions.

After more than 12 hours of flight, Vietnam Airlines' Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed safely at Copenhagen Airport.

The first flight, VN39, departing at 10:45 PM on December 15th from Tan Son Nhat Airport on a wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, landed safely at Copenhagen Airport after more than 12 hours of flight, bringing over 200 passengers to the Danish capital. In the opposite direction, flight VN38 took off from Copenhagen at 10:50 AM local time on December 16th and landed in Ho Chi Minh City on the same day, serving over 300 passengers.

The Ho Chi Minh City-Copenhagen route operates regularly three times a week. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City depart on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings; the return flights from Copenhagen depart on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings. The opening of this new route provides passengers in Vietnam with more convenient connections to Denmark and the Nordic region, while also meeting the growing travel needs of the Vietnamese community there, estimated at around 70,000 people. This route is expected to significantly boost the increasing number of Nordic tourists visiting Vietnam in recent years.

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, emphasized that Copenhagen is a key market in the airline's strategy to expand its European flight network. This direct flight significantly shortens travel time between Vietnam and Denmark, enhances Vietnam Airlines' competitive advantage, and opens up new opportunities for tourism, trade, and people-to-people cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Nordic region. This direct connection will bring practical benefits to passengers, businesses, and the Vietnamese community here.

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, one of the world’s most livable cities, and also serves as a major transportation hub for the entire Scandinavian region.

From Copenhagen Airport, passengers can conveniently connect to Sweden, Norway, and Finland via a modern infrastructure system and an efficient transport network. As a result, Vietnam Airlines’ new route not only meets travel demand to Denmark but also expands access to the entire Nordic region more quickly and conveniently compared to previous journeys requiring transit.

Copenhagen is considered a market with great potential, especially in winter when Nordic tourists have high demand for warmer destinations like Vietnam.

With the launch of this route, Vietnam Airlines becomes one of the few Southeast Asian airlines to connect directly to Northern Europe, thereby adding an important destination to the airline's existing European network which includes Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Milan, and Moscow.
