Pleiku Airport recently conducted the 2025 on-site emergency drill. This annual key activity aims to test command and operational capabilities as well as the coordination effectiveness between the aviation sector and local functional forces.
The drill involved close coordination with Gia Lai Provincial Police (PA08 and PC07 Departments), Pleiku Airport Technical Support Battalion, Gia Lai General Hospital, Military Hospital 211, and other units operating at the Airport. The primary objective of the exercise was to practically assess the effectiveness of the Emergency Plan approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, thereby practicing quick response skills and ensuring absolute safety for passengers and aviation infrastructure.

The simulated scenario was designed to be highly complex and closely reflect real operational conditions. Specifically, at 08:40, flight KN2025, operated by ABC Airlines on an Airbus A321 on the Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku route, carrying 145 passengers and 7 crew members, experienced a landing gear system failure. The landing occurred under adverse weather conditions, with heavy rain causing a slippery runway. The aircraft lost control, skidded off the runway, and crashed into a low-lying area, resulting in a fire outbreak in the fuselage, directly threatening the lives of passengers.

As soon as the information was received, the Pleiku Airport on Duty immediately reported, activated the Emergency Center, deployed a full emergency plan, mobilized fire prevention and fighting, rescue, medical, technical, aviation security forces, coordinated with the Provincial Police, and hospitals to quickly approach the scene and handle the situation.
At the scene, the responding forces carried out coordinated rescue activities. Firefighting units quickly approached and extinguished the simulated fire on the aircraft fuselage; rescue teams cut through the aircraft structure to free trapped passengers; and medical teams from the Airport and local hospitals jointly provided first aid, triage, and transported the injured to medical facilities. Technical crews, ground service teams, and aviation security forces worked together to maintain order, recover baggage and cargo, support passengers, and restore normal airport operations
The drill was conducted on a large scale, in a well-organized manner, and closely aligned with real-life scenarios, demonstrating the sense of responsibility, coordination capability, and rapid response of the participating forces. Speaking at the closing session, Nguyen Dinh Hung, Director of Pleiku Airport, emphasized that emergency drills are an annual activity of particular importance in ensuring aviation safety. They provide an opportunity for forces to practice skills, strengthen coordination procedures, and enhance their ability to respond to potential emergency situations.
Through this drill, Pleiku Airport once again reaffirmed the determination of all its officers and staff in maintaining the highest safety standards. This is not only the responsibility of the Airport but also a commitment of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to building a safe, professional, and passenger-friendly aviation environment, thereby contributing to enhancing the reputation and service quality of the national aviation sector.
