Speaking at the inspection, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van basically agreed with the proposal to build an overpass at the landslide location at Km50+700 - Km50+800.

The Deputy Minister assigned the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board to coordinate with the Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management (Ministry of Construction) to survey and study suitable options to report to the Ministry of Construction; speed up the disbursement progress, clear landslides on the route, and ensure smooth traffic.

Previously, reporting at the inspection session, Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, said from October 26 to October 30, heavy rains on a large scale caused landslides at 21 locations on the route with a total volume of about 146,000m3.

Up to now, the work of clearing landslides has been basically completed, and the route has been cleared. The location Km42+700 still has the potential risk of further landslides, so it is temporarily limited to one lane and is being focused on handling.

At Km50+700 - Km50+800, a landslide occurred on the negative slope, damaging part of the road surface, causing the retaining wall on the negative slope to collapse. Larsen IV piles have been installed at this location to hold the roadbed on the positive slope and a temporary road has been built with cement concrete, ensuring two-way traffic.

At the landslide locations, construction units used specialized machinery to level and clear tons of mud and rocks. The cleanup work was carried out urgently, ensuring the earliest possible route.

In the long term, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board proposed a detailed survey of the terrain, geology, and hydrology to select a stable solution. The temporary traffic guarantee plan is to install two rows of piles within the landslide area, keeping the roadbed about 9m wide from the edge of the positive slope ditch to make a temporary road to serve the construction process.

The long-term adjusted design plan is to dig up the entire roadbed in the landslide area and replace it with a viaduct. The bridge is expected to include four Super-T spans, about 176m long and 22m wide (including two independent links).
