These buses are among 600 buses on 35 subsidised bus routes operated by Phuong Trang Passenger Bus Joint Stock Company (Futa Busline) in the city, following the company’s successful bid in the first quarter of 2025.

Nguyen Vinh Toan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said that following the merger, the city has 164 bus routes—108 subsidised and 56 non-subsidised—with about 2,342 vehicles in operation.

In recent years, the city has gradually converted fossil fuel-powered buses to those using electricity and green energy. Starting August 1, the city will put 443 additional electric buses into operation on 27 routes, increasing the number of electric buses in the city to 613—accounting for 26.2% of the fleet.

"The number of electric buses being put into operation marks an important step in the process of improving service quality and developing modern and sustainable public transport, aiming for the goal of 100% of buses using green energy by 2030", Toan emphasised.

All buses operating on 35 routes are newly built at Kim Long Motor Factory, meeting international standards, with a capacity of 30-40 seats. In addition, the routes are synchronised, ensuring reasonable travel times and smooth journeys, connecting with the future metro system—creating a unified public transport network convenient for city residents.

According to Phan Van Hai, Deputy General Director of Futa Busline, receiving and operating the 35 bus routes provides people with more options for high-quality transportation services, contributing to reducing emissions and a cleaner urban atmosphere.
