To reach its targets, the province plans to develop three major urban areas, including a central urban area that includes the city of Hue, Huong Thuy district, and Huong Tra commune, which will hold a key role as an administrative and political center and a center of culture, tourism, sports, healthcare, education and training, and science and technology. It will also link with Phu Bai International Airport and industrial parks and clusters.
Its northwestern urban area, covering Phong Dien, Quang Dien, and A Luoi communes, will be developed into a gateway to connect with neighboring Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces and countries in the sub-Mekong region.
The southeastern urban area, including Phu Loc, Phu Vang, and Nam Dong districts, will connect with Da Nang city and countries along the East-West Economic Corridor.
